Was I a mess?
Before I gave my life to Jesus Christ, my life was a mess. I was looking for help in all the wrong places. I tried everything! Nothing filled the empty place that I had in my life. I tried sex. I tried the drug scene. I even became an alcoholic trying to fit in with my so called "friends." I tried a lot of things that just put me deeper and deeper in a deep dark pit. There was only one answer to filling the void in my life, and I really didn't have a clue as to what that was.
People started telling me about Jesus Christ. I didn't want to hear it. I was my own God and I didn't need anyone telling me what to do. Well, so much for what I "thought" about the Lord. I have to seriously tell you, I was so ignorant about spiritual things. I had no clue that the one I had been resisting, was the exact one that I needed to fill that void in my life. I finally went to church with a Christian and accepted Jesus Christ into my heart and life. I didn't feel a thing, just said a prayer.
Two weeks later, I was praying a "lay me down to sleep prayer" and a peace came over my whole body, from head to toe. It was so awesome. I can't explain it, but I'll never forget it. It was during this precious moment that I realized that I was saved (born again). I was so excited that I jumped out of my bed and called a friend and shared what had happened to me. The next morning, I shared with my folks. They looked at each other and said, "That's nice." They had no clue. Everyone thought my zeal for God would deteriorate, but instead it has continually increased over the years. I love Jesus more today than I did yesterday!
I'm telling you friend, Jesus Christ is real. He can change your life, no matter what you've done or how bad you are, He can take your life, rearrange it and make it brand new! |

How Can I Be Changed?
All you need to do is realize that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. You need to ask the Lord to forgive you of all your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. You must realize that giving your life to Christ means that you must "repent" or turn away from your sin. I know that you can't do this on your own, that's why you are giving your life to the Lord. He is the one who supernaturally helps you to change. We can't change ourselves.
When you ask the Lord to come into your heart and life and accept Him as your Lord and Savior, His Holy Spirit comes to live inside of you. With the Holy Spirit living on the inside of you, you become a new person on the inside. You become saved or born again by the Spirit of God.
As you pray and as the Lord to help you to stop doing things that are not pleasing to Him, He will do it! As you ask Him to deliver you from drug addiction, alcoholism etc., He will do it. Sometimes, it happens very quickly, other times, it takes a while. Every case is different, but the Lord will do it for you. I'm a living testimony to this. I was instantly delivered from using drugs when I accepted the Lord. Two years later, I was completely delivered from alcohol.
Do You Want To Accept Jesus Christ Into Your Life?
It's one thing to make Him Savior, but it's another thing to make Him Lord of your life. When He's Lord of your life, you are not. You once lived to please yourself, now you will live to please God.
You must die to yourself (spiritually speaking) and be made alive to God. I would recommend that you read the Gospel of John in the Bible. This will give you insight into the life of Jesus and what He wants for your life. I would also recommend that you read the book of Romans. These two books are excellent for beginning your new life with Jesus.
What do I need to do?
Basically you need to repent (turn from your sin) and turn to Jesus. You can pray a prayer, but it's not the prayer that saves you. It's the repentant heart and faith that saves you. You must really understand what you are praying and you must want to change. You need to be willing to lay your life down and take up a new life of living for Jesus. This life is not an easy life, but it's the best life there is.
When you give your life to Jesus and truly live for Him, you will also know that when you breathe your last breath here on earth, your spirit will go straight to be with Jesus. When you are born again, you receive Eternal Life. That means you will spend eternity with the Lord.
Here's a prayer that will help you pray:
Father, I ask you to forgive me of all my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I ask you to come into my heart and life and be both my Savior and my Lord. I realize that I am a sinner and I need you to forgive me and help me to live for you. I want to give my life completely into your hands Lord. I ask you to fill me up with your Holy Spirit and give me Eternal Life. Show me how to live for you. Help me to understand your word. Lead me and guide me in the way that I need to go. Show me where to go to church to get hooked up with other believers. Keep me under the shadow of your wings and deliver me from all my addictions, heartaches, wounds and past failures. I believe that you died and rose again from the dead on the third day and I believe that you have come into my heart and life today. I thank you Lord Jesus for giving me a new start on life. Protect me from the evil one and give me the strength to live for you. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
